Teacher Programs Policies

To ensure a quality learning experience, workshop sizes are limited and all participants must preregister. Please register early to ensure that space is available in your preferred workshop. Full course payment is due at the time of registration and optional graduate credit fees must be paid by the first day of the workshop. Custom workshop registration must be complete and payment must be received at least two weeks prior to the date of the workshop.

All communications will be sent via e-mail. Please provide a valid e-mail address and add Click here to show mail address to your safe senders list in order to guarantee receipt.

We will fill out appropriate paperwork for CPDU, CPS Lane, and Aurora or National-Louis University credit on the first day of the workshop or institute. If you plan to earn graduate credit through Aurora University, please be prepared to pay an additional fee of $100 per credit payable to Aurora University (only checks accepted). If you plan to earn graduate credit through National-Louis University, please be prepared to pay an additional fee of $140 per credit payable to National-Louis University (check or credit card accepted). Graduate fees are subject to change. To receive professional development credit, you must attend each scheduled class session and complete all assigned work.

We will provide coffee and a light breakfast in the morning.

Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hands-on learning. We recommend that you dress in layers to adapt to different temperatures in the classrooms as well as outdoors.

Directions to the Chicago Botanic Garden can be found here. To receive free parking, please present your e-mailed receipt upon arrival at the Gatehouse. The Gatehouse attendant will direct you to the appropriate parking lot and building. Directions to our partnering organizations can be found on their respective websites.

Cancellation Policy
Courses canceled by the Garden due to hazardous weather conditions or low enrollment will be automatically refunded in full. Participants will be notified by phone in case of a cancellation. Programs with insufficient registration will be canceled five to ten business days before the scheduled start date.

Refund Policy
If you must cancel your registration or custom workshop, please notify Teacher Programs as soon as possible by phone at (847) 835-8253. If you cancel at least two weeks prior to the first day of the workshop, a full refund minus a $25 administration handling fee will be issued, or you may transfer your registration to another workshop at no additional cost. If you cancel less than two weeks prior to the workshop, we are unable to give refunds or transfer your registration.

Photo and Image Use Release
By participating in the class you agree that, during your class, you may be filmed, videotaped, and/or photographed by a Garden employee, contract photographer, or the media. Your attendance at Garden classes serves as permission for the use of your image, the image of your creation, or the image of you participating in instructional or social activities with your creations, by the Garden for marketing and promotional purposes and you agree to release us from any liability in connection therewith.
