Carnival Hedge Maple

The Hedge Maple is native to most of Europe (in Scotland, it is the only native maple) and has been naturalized in North America and New Zealand. It is a slow grower and has deeply fissured, cork-like bark. The leaves have five, blunt, rounded lobes. 'Carnival' is a dwarf cultivar (10 feet in height with a similar spread) with gray- green variegated foliage outlined in white and pink. The foliage turns bright yellow in the fall. It prefers rich, well-drained soil that is kept evenly moist in light or partial shade. This is also a good selection for Bonsai.
