Faith in Place: Launching Our First Incubator Kitchen
Faith in Place hosted its Taste of Community program at Great Saint John Bible Church (GSJBC) in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood.
We celebrated the launch of our very first Incubator Kitchen. The Incubator Kitchen is a collaborative initiative where Faith in Place partners with a house of worship to build out a commercial kitchen that supports healthy food programs and creates opportunities for local culinary entrepreneurs.
This particular kitchen took over a year to bring to life, led by Ramont Bell (Faith in Place), Shelia Owens (executive director of GSJBC), and several dedicated partners. The Taste of Community program marked the debut of this kitchen. The program featured a curated three-course menu, introductions of featured chefs, and a chance for communities of faith to come together over food, culture, and shared purpose.
This program represents a powerful step toward food justice, economic opportunity, and spiritual community through culinary storytelling.
