Whitewater Veronica

Whitewater speedwell is a Chicagoland Grows® selection. Chicagoland Grows® is a plant introduction partnership of the Chicago Botanic Garden, the Morton Arboretum and the Ornamental Growers Association of Northern Illinois formed to promote plant cultivars that perform well in northern Illinois. This variety was selected at Elite Growers as a white-flowered sport of Veronica 'Waterperry Blue'. Whitewater forms a dense low carpet, growing 4" to 6" tall and spreading 12" to 18" wide in a single season. Over time, it can cover a more expansive area. The plant is dense enough to suppress weeds and tough enough to tolerate some foot traffic. The ½" glossy dark-green leaves are produced on creeping, wiry stems. The foliage turns an attractive burgundy to bronze in winter months; it is evergreen in mild climates.
