This deciduous cultivar was developed at the National Arboretum and introduced in 1990. It can grow to a height of 40’ with a similar spread. It has mottled bark that provides winter interest. It prefers full sun in average, well-drained soil. It needs to be well watered until established, but does not tolerate constantly wet conditions. Dutch elm disease is usually not a problem for this tree.
