Ozarks Spiderwort

This Missouri/Arkansas native is a clump-forming perennial that grows to a height of 8” with a similar spread. The deep blue to purple, three-petaled flowers last only for a day, but open in succession on the plant from May to June. It prefers moist, acidic, well-drained soil in part shade and will tolerate poor soils. The foliage declines after flowering and should then be cut back almost to the ground to encourage new growth and a possible fall bloom. This plant can self-seed under ideal growing conditions.
