Bourbon Rose

'Souvenir de la Malmaison' is an Old Garden Rose, introduced in 1843 by Jean Béluze in Lyon, France. This beautiful historic shrub rose grows up to four feet high if given full sun. From mid-June through October it produces fragrant pink "quartered" blooms. This means there are so many tightly-packed petals that they fold over each other in bunches of four or more. Because these flowers are so packed, they retain water and the flowers may rot after a rainy spell. Therefore, the soil should be watered, not the flowers or leaves.
