English Shrub Rose

Mary Rose® English shrub rose (Rosa 'AUSmary') is a loosely petalled, strongly fragrant, pink double-flowered shrub rose with medium green foliage. In ideal conditions it grows very bushy and upright to a full size of roughly 5 feet high and wide, but can be pruned to smaller spaces. height, and 3 to 5 feet in breadth. This cultivar is very disease resistant and particularly winter hardy.

Mary Rose®  was named after Henry VIII's flagship, which sank in 1545 in battle with the French at the Solent. The wreck was rediscovered in the 1830's when a partial recovery was done, but then disappeared again in silty riverbed. She was rediscovered in 1967 and raised in October 1982, when David Austen gave her name to this rose.
