Arc-En-Ciel Waterlily

The light salmon-pink flowers of Arc-en-Ciel waterlily (Nymphaea'Arc-en-Ciel') are surrounded by olive-green leaves splashed with yellow, cream, pink, and red.

To grow your own, plant the tubers in containers filled with rich soil in early summer (after the water temperature has warmed to 60 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer) and submerge the top of the pot at least 8 inches below the surface of the water. Fertilize periodically with specially formulated waterlily tablets, ensuring the tablet is buried beneath the soil surface in the pot to discourage the growth of algae. Place expanded metal across the top of the container to discourage predation by nutria and deer. After the first hard frost, bring the container into a frost-free environment, and let it dry out. Carefully dig out the tubers, and place in calcined clay (kitty litter) for overwinter storage in a cool, dry location.
