Trumpet Lily

Lilium ‘Midnight’ has gorgeous, very deep burgundy flowers in mid summer. The flowers are downfacing and unusually large, measuring 6 to 12 inches. Midnight is a Trumpet hybrid with the distinctive strongly fragrant trumpet-shaped blooms and on tall stems. Trumpet lilies generally bloom after Asiatic lilies and before Oriental Lilies. The unsurpassed grace and beauty of this lily makes it a lovely addition to the garden. Lilies love full sun, but will do well in partial shade. Among the lilies, Trumpets are the least shade tolerant. They tolerate hot summer days, as long as the bulbs are deep enough to remain cool. Lower plants surrounding the lilies will help protect their roots from drying out. Lilies make an excellent cut flower with long lasting blooms and buds that continue to mature and open after cutting.
