Martagon Lily

Lilium martagon ‘Arabian Knight’, known by its trademark name Arabian Knight ®,   is a deep maroon color on top of varying shades of gold and orange in late spring. The flowers are 4 inches wide with contrasting orange anthers and a generous speckling of dark spots. The stems stand 4 feet high with 30 or more Turk’s cap flowers on a single stem. Typically Martagon lilies have a strong fragrance. The unsurpassed grace and beauty of this lily makes it a lovely addition to the garden. Lilies love full sun, but will do well in partial shade. Martagon lilies are most the adapted to shade. They tolerate hot summer days, as long as the bulbs are deep enough to remain cool. Lower plants surrounding the lilies will help protect their roots from drying out. Lilies make an excellent cut flower with long lasting blooms and buds that continue to mature and open after cutting.
