Leslie Woodriff Orienpet Lily

Lilium ‘Leslie Woodriff ‘ has stunning deep-red flowers with white tips and petal edges in late summer. The flowers are huge and downfacing with recurved petals in late summer. The stems stand 4 to 6 feet tall and may have as many as 20 or more blooms per stem. This is an Orienpet hybrid, a cross between an Oriental lily and a trumpet lily, which combines the tall, strong stems of the trumpets with the fragrance and shape of the Oriental hybrids. These hybrids have an increased ability to withstand late spring frosts, as well as hot summer days. Leslie Woodriff topped the popularity polls for three years and earned a place in the Lily Hall of Fame. The unsurpassed grace and beauty of this lily make it a lovely addition to the garden. Lilies love full sun but will do well in partial shade. They tolerate hot summer days, as long as the bulbs are deep enough to remain cool. Lower plants surrounding the lilies will help protect their roots from drying out. Lilies make an excellent cut flower with long-lasting blooms and buds that continue to mature and open after cutting.
