Yellow-vein Hydrangea

Hydrangea luteovenosa is a small shrub with dark purplish brown, spreading and gently arched branches. It has clusters of creamy white flowers that are showy but sterile. The blooms emerge in mid summer and gradually turn yellow as they mature. The foliage has a touch of varigation. This species requires partial shade and constantly moist soil. The name Hydrangea comes from the Greek words hydro meaning water and aggeion meaning vessel in reference to the resemblance of the seed capsules to a small water pitcher.
