Bertie Ferris Daylily

Bertie Ferris is a miniature daylily with brilliant persimmon-orange blooms measuring only 2-1/2 inches. The petals are ruffled at the edges. The stalks grow only to 20 inches tall. It blooms profusely starting early in the season with blooms that can last up to 16 hours. Although each flower lasts only one day, there are multiple buds on each stalk and several stalks on each plant. The buds open in series, so a single plant will continue to bloom for 2 weeks or more. It is easy to grow and does well in either full sun or part shade. Bertie Ferris was awarded the daylily’s highest award, the Stout Silver Medal in 1980. It has also been awarded Junior Citation in 1969, Honorable Mention in 1972, the Don Fischer Memorial Award in 1973, and Award of Merit in 1975.
