August Flame Daylily

As the name August Flame connotes, this daylily is flaming red and blooms quite late in the season. It has a yellow streak in the center of each petal and a yellow throat. The flowers are 5” in diameter on top of tall foliage. It is an excellent choice for a border. Each flower lasts only one day, but there are multiple buds on each stalk and there are several stalks on each plant. The buds open in series, so a single plant  may continue to bloom for 2 weeks or more. Typical of daylilies, it is easy to grow and does well in full sun to part shade.
