Peruvian Old Man Cactus

This high altitude cactus from Peru and Bolivia features long white hair-like modified spines in profusion to help retain heat during the cool nights. Like the saguaro cactus, it produces branches with age and can reach 21 feet in height. This is a night blooming species adapted to bat pollination and produces white or purple flowers. Very slow growing. Grow in full sun, exceptionally well drained soils and repot in larger containers as it starts to get top heavy.
