Quamash

Quamash is a bulbous perennial with 8- to 20-inch-long linear leaves and racemes of blue flowers on leafless stems in late spring. The native American plants resemble loose hyacinths; they will naturalize if planted in moist soil. Cooked quamash bulbs were once an important food source for Native Americans.
