Astilbe chinensis var. taquetii 'Superba'

Superba Chinese Astilbe

This regal 3- to 4-foot astilbe cultivar has rosy-purple, fluffy flowers on erect spikes above the mounded foliage. It is quite popular because it blooms late in the summer and into fall, a time when there are few purple flowers in the garden. Often used as an accent, this tall, late-blooming plant grows well in the shade and is also excellent at the water's edge.
