Patricia Vase Plant

Grow this cultivar in filtered or dappled sun and moist, well-drained, humus-rich growing medium (not heavy soil). Keep the central cup filled with water, and mist the leaves regularly, especially in the heat and strong sunlight of summer. This large bromeliad makes an interesting greenhouse or tropical landscape plant, situated where its spines will cause no harm. It grows well attached to a tree or wedged between rocks. The sheer size of this plant makes an impressive clump, so do not use it as a houseplant! Keep copper wire and copper containers away from bromeliads, and do not spray with products that contain copper, because copper is toxic to them.
