Purple Rain Lilac Sage

Purple Rain lilac sage (Salvia verticillata 'Purple Rain')  features violet-purple spikes up to 18 inches high above the olive-green tomentose (fuzzy) leaves starting in July and continuing—if deadheaded—well into late summer. Plant this cultivar in full sun in average soil, and water it well until the root system is well-established; thereafter, it will be drought tolerant. 'Purple Rain' attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and honeybees but is resistant to rabbits and deer.
