Star-of-Bethlehem

The dwarf Star of Bethlehem is a low growing but prolific spring-flowering bulb that originates from the Caucasus area of Asia Minor. The star-shaped white flowers are borne on flower spikes about six inches high. Plant in groups for maximum effect. The smaller stature of this plant lends itself to interplanting among taller bulbs or along edges. This bulb is not reliably hardy in the Chicagoland area and applying a two inch layer of mulch after the ground freezes in the fall will help protect the bulbs from extremely cold temperatures.
