Butterpat Helenium

Butterpat helenium (Helenium autumnale ‘Butterpat’), a midwestern native, casts its pure yellow glow from August into September. This selection by noted horticulturist Alan Bloom received the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society for the purity of the flower color and its hardiness and vigor in garden settings. Plant butterpat sneezeweed in full sun and in average soil that retains moisture during periods of drought. Staking is recommended if garden conditions are exceptionally windy or the soil is too wet.
