Jason Matthew Dahlia

Dahlia 'Jason Matthew' is a 2010 introduction, and is classified as a formal decorative form, with abundant blooms in late summer and into fall.  The 3 inch flower heads have deep purple petals that have tend to slightly lighter colors towards the center. The petals have slightly rolled edges and appear velvety, held on long dark green stems that make it an excellent choice for cutting. Pollinating insects and hummingbirds love the flowers.

Dahlias are not hardy in the Chicago area and need to be lifted and stored through winter.  Plant in spring when danger of frost is past and stake if in a windy location.
