Windy City Harvest
One-day intensive workshops are perfect for the small-scale urban farmer or adult learners with an interest in gaining experience. Whether it is your backyard, community plot, porch, rooftop, or school garden, you will learn sustainable techniques to get the most production out of your small space. Workshops are taught by Windy City Harvest staff or industry experts, and are open to the general public. They include a full day of hands-on experience, and lecture time with an hour-long lunch break. All materials and handouts will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.
The Windy City Harvest short courses in Sustainable Urban Agriculture offer a variety of industry-specific certificates. These certificates have been designed for individuals who already have a firm foundation in sustainable urban growing techniques and are looking to expand their knowledge in specific areas. Each course combines hands-on training with classroom education and will be offered as either an evening or weekend course. Industry-specific certificate courses are open to the public, not just Windy City Harvest alumni.
Learn from experienced professionals about the ecologically efficient system that uses water, fish, and plants to maximize growing space, water, and fertilization. One-Day Workshops offer the opportunity to learn the fundamental principles of aquaponics production, as well as tips and tricks for building an at-home or small-scale aquaponics system. Three-Day Intensive Courses take a more comprehensive look at the design, build-out, and maintenance of a system for those who are seriously considering or already in the process of aquaponics food production.
