Located in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood, the Farm on Ogden is a city lot reborn into a vibrant community hub that brings together a farm, a market, health programs, and job opportunities—all in one place. Created through a partnership between the Chicago Botanic Garden and Lawndale Christian Health Center (LCHC), this innovative space takes a “whole person” approach to community health and wellness, fostering lasting change and impact.

The journey to the Farm on Ogden began with small but impactful steps:
2003: Windy City Harvest (WCH) launched its first program, the Lake County Youth Farm, demonstrating the power of urban agriculture to transform lives.
2005: Inspired by WCH’s success, local organizations partnered to establish a Youth Farm in North Lawndale.
2007: LCHC invited Youth Farm students to sell fresh produce in the clinic’s courtyard, sparking a deeper connection between food access and health.
2009: With three farm sites operating, WCH launches its Apprenticeship program.
2012: WCH launches its Farm Incubator program, expanding its workforce development pathways.
2016: Together, WCH and LCHC launched VeggieRx, a prescription produce program for individuals with diet-related illnesses.
2018: After years of planning, fundraising, and collaboration, the Farm on Ogden officially opened—a vibrant community hub that takes a “whole person” approach to wellness.
