Tall spikes of vivid purple flowers appear in July and continue into August on this hardy perennial. Plant 'Very Van Gogh' in full sun, well-drained, moisture-retentive soils, and water only during periods of drought (when the leaves begin to wilt). This plant attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees to the garden, but the foliage isn't favored by rabbits and deer.
