Ural False Spirea

The Ural false spirea is a medium-sized spreading shrub native to northern Asia, from the Ural Mountains to Japan. An unusual summer-flowering shrub, it spreads by suckers and will form large colonies. The leaves are very similar to those of the related European mountain ash—they are large and pinnately compound with toothed leaflets. It is topped by large white feathery flower heads measuring 4- to 10-inches long in late June and into early July.
