This tree is a North American native. Our USDA  Zone 5 is believed to be the southernmost reach of its range. It grows into a narrow cone (100’ X 15’).  It does not do well with humidity or heavy clay soils, but tolerates extreme cold, heavy snows and high winds well. It will do best in a sunny location with well-drained soil.
