Junkyard Dog Dahlia

The slightly pointed petals of Junkyard Dog dahlia (Dahlia 'Junkyard Dog'), which are deep pink and magenta with white streaks, are striking. 'Junkyard Dog' blooms are an amazing 7 inches across on sturdy plants that grow to 5 feet. This late-season cultivar, introduced in 2004 and classified as a novelty, doesn't come into flower until August. Dahlias are not hardy in the Chicago area and tubers must be dug, cleaned, and stored over winter. Plant this dahlia in full sun in spring, when danger of frost has passed.
