White Rose of York
Masses of wonderfully fragrant semi-double blooms smother this very old shrub rose (before 1600) in mid-June. The common name commemorates the House of York, one of the contestants in the English War of the Roses. If grown in full sun and allowed to reach mature size, this rose makes a wonderful statement in the landscape in early summer.
