Native to the United States, mountain mint is an erect, many-branched perennial that grows 2 – 3 feet tall and features narrow, tapering leaves and flat-topped clusters of small, white flowers that bloom from July to August. The plant prefers moist soils and grows in swamps and along streams and ponds. When crushed, it produces a strong, mint-like aroma and is often used to make tea.
