Double Blue Balloon Flower
This balloon flower cultivar typically grows to only a couple of feet tall (about two-thirds the height of the species). Unique, puffy flower buds shaped like hot air balloons open into 3" diameter, double, blue, upward-facing, bell-shaped flowers with five pointed lobes. Oval, dentate leaves to 3" long are well spaced along the upright stems. Blooms from the summer solstice to early fall and is pest- and disease-free for most gardeners. Attracts a number of pollen- and nectar-feeding insects to the garden.
