Katherine Garden Phlox
Dozens of lavender flowers with white eyes form rounded masses at the tips of the flower stems in July and August. With a clove-like fragrance, it is a strong attractant of butterflies and hummingbirds, as well as gardeners. The green leaves are mildew resistant, a big improvement over many older varieties. Descended from native parents, this plant is not fussy to soils as long as it is relatively well-drained and planted in full- to partial-sun locations.
