Pale Beard Tongue
Pale beard tongue (Penstemon pallidus) is a native midwestern plant that thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Water well the first year to establish the root system, and only in periods of extreme drought thereafter. Creamy white flowers with a pale pink tinge feature lavender-colored nectar guides on this herbaceous perennial, which grows to 2 feet tall. It attracts bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies.
