Nippon oriental lily (Lilium'Nippon') features large, fragrant white flowers with deep yellow midveins and burgundy freckles on the lower end of the petals. The flowers bloom in August on thin, 4-foot tall stems. Lilies like their bulbs planted in shady locations but their "heads" in the sun—an edge of a border or among other perennials is ideal. Protect this lily from rabbits and deer; otherwise, it's not prone to many pests or diseases.
