Berrylicious Rose Mallow
Hibiscus' Berrylicious' has rose pink to lavender flowers with deep red eyes. The flowers are huge, 9 inches across, with ruffled petals that overlap. It stands 4-5 feet high and blooms in mid summer to early fall. The leaves are dark green and similar to maple leaves. It is attractive to hummingbirds and bees while resistant to deer. The name Hibiscus came from the Greek work ‘hibiskos” that meant “marshmallow.” The sticky root or stem of some plant in the mallow family was used at one time to make marshmallow confections.
