Tall bellflower is an upright annual or biennial that is native to moist and shady areas of the Midwest. It is a biennial, producing leaves in the first year. In the second year, it produces tall flower stems with star-shaped, light blue flowers with a pale white ring at the throat. The plant blooms from May through October, reaching 6 feet tall and attracting birds and butterflies. Use these plants in moist rock gardens and shaded woodland areas where they can naturalize.
