This thorny round shrub needs full sun and moderate soil conditions to reach a height of about 2 feet. Its deep crimson foliage is eye catching during the growing season and becomes brighter in the fall. In the spring it produces insignificant yellow flowers that give way to red fruits that attract birds. This plant belongs in a hedge or border.
