Petra van Nuis

A Chicagoan since 2003, Petra van Nuis sings at all the finest jazz venues in town including the Jazz Showcase, the Green Mill, Andy's Jazz Club, Winter's, Fitzgerald's, the City Winery, and the Old Town School of Folk Music. Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs has presented van Nuis’ groups at the Chicago Cultural Center and Chicago Summer Dance. The Jazz Institute of Chicago has featured van Nuis’ Recession Seven band at the Chicago Jazz Festival and Jazz City. van Nuis has been profiled several times in the Chicago Tribune. Her music is played on Chicago's WDCB jazz station, on WGN for Rick Kogan's "After Hours" show, and on WBEZ's "Morning Shift" with Tony Sarabia. Nationally, van Nuis sings at jazz festivals and clubs around the country and tours Europe regularly with her husband, guitarist Andy Brown. Four of van Nuis’ CDs have been re-released in Japan and are used as in-flight music on All Nippon Airways (Japan's largest airline).
