New! Learn the craft of making brooms from natural plant fibers while exploring the rich cultural history behind this everyday tool. Begin with an introduction to the primary plant used in traditional broom-making (sorghum), including the differences in type and use, and why broomcorn became the preferred fiber for broom-making. Then, flex your crafting muscle by combing the seeds off the sorghum hurl to prepare the material. Familiarize yourself with the weaving technique by creating two pine needle mini brooms. You will then move on to working with sorghum to form a traditional hand broom to take home. All skill levels welcome. Lunch is on your own. All supplies included.
