This Is What Giving Grows

Dear Fellow Garden-Lover,
When I think about why I’m so dedicated to the Garden, it all begins with my dad. My dad was a devoted physician, but he was gruff. My sisters and I used to say he saved his sweetness for his patients. But whenever we visited the Garden, he was a different person. He smiled more. He loved pointing out plants and birds to me. The Garden became our special place.
I’m proud to carry on that legacy—sharing my love of the Garden with my children and grandchildren. The Garden has enriched my life in so many ways. That’s why I make a gift every spring—to help others experience the beauty and healing power of nature. I’ve been a member since 1989, but I began giving more once I realized my support could help others find the same joy I have.
It gives me great pride to know that my spring gift advances the Garden’s mission and supports a wide range of incredible programs such as:
Nature Preschool, where little ones take their first steps in nature;
Internships for high school students passionate about conservation science;
Veteran Internship Program, which brings the mental health benefits of plants to those who’ve given so much for our country.
If the Garden means as much to you as it does to me, I hope you’ll join me in making a special spring gift today.
—Wendy Gunther Margolis, Garden member since 1989
