The Regenstein Learning Campus is advancing the Chicago Botanic Garden’s influence as an education institution as it serves people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds each year. 

The centerpiece is the Learning Center, a 26,700-square-foot facility that includes indoor and outdoor classrooms, a nature laboratory, Grainger Wing, Astellas Atrium, and ITW Kitchen. 

The Nature Play Garden, with its rolling hills and series of multisensory gardens, provides areas for learning, gathering, and hiding.

Butterflies & Blooms

Immerse yourself in a habitat filled with live butterflies. The 2,800-square-foot mesh enclosure is located on the Regenstein Learning Campus. See nature’s palette revealed in the butterfly collection.

• 6 raised beds In the Grunsfeld Children’s Growing Garden, for children to see, smell, and touch.

• 7 days a week Open every day for exploration.

• 1 Nature Preschool Only nature preschool at a botanic garden to utilize both indoor and outdoor spaces.

• 56 species Butterflies and other insects that fly freely through Butterflies & Blooms.

• 83 solar panels In the Learning Center. The sustainable design features also include recycled and low-carbon materials used in the construction and a rainwater capture and storage system.
