Petal Package

Agri-Tourism Package

  • Available April through September
  • Tours of the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden departing every hour between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Grand Tram Tour

  • 35-minute narrated tour departs on the hour starting at 10 a.m.
  • Travels 2.6 miles and shows the entire Garden grounds, including such highlights as 81 acres of lakes, nine islands, and panoramic views of beautiful gardens
  • Maximum capacity of 76 people
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Available during peak season (April – October)

Bright Encounters Tram Tour

  • 35-minute narrated tour departs every hour starting at 10 a.m.
  • Travels around the main island for a closer look at the Garden; this tour is designed for those who cannot walk this area of the Garden
  • Maximum capacity of 18 people
  • Wheelchair accessible (due to space contraints, scooters cannot be loaded onto the designated ADA area)
  • Available during peak season (April – October)

Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden Tours

  • Available April through September
  • 45-minute narrated tour offered Thursdays, departing every hour between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Maximum capacity 15 – 20 people per guide
  • April: Spring in the organic vegetable garden or planning a vegetable garden
  • May: Get ideas on planting a summer vegetable garden, growing vegetables in containers, or raised-bed gardening
  • June: Get tips on caring for organic edible landscapes, sustainable watering practices, or growing herbs
  • July and August: Learn about bees and the food crops they pollinate, or heirloom tomatoes, peppers, and basil
  • September: Learn about handling the harvest, planting a fall garden, or preparing the vegetable garden for winter


Model Railroad Garden

For $6 more per person, add a unique adventure to your package: 15 model trains journey coast-to-coast across bridges, through tunnels, and past miniature scenes of America's favorite landmarks. Wheelchair accessible. From mid-May to late October, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., extended until 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, June – August. This visit takes approximately 30 minutes.

Butterflies & Blooms

For $6 more per person, immerse yourself in a habitat filled with more than 500 butterflies native to South America, North America, and Africa, as well as Illinois. From late May through early September, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. This visit takes approximately 20 minutes.

Plant Science Center Green Roof or Lab Tour

Explore the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Plant Conservation Science Center to learn about the Garden’s many plant and native habitat restoration activities. Interact with six hands-on exhibits exploring flower pollination, plants in our lives, and soil creatures. Discover some special features of the plants growing on the 16,000-square-foot “living roof.” Learn about the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold-certified building (capacity restrictions apply based on guide availability).

Library Tour

One of the greatest treasures of the Chicago Botanic Garden is the Lenhardt Library. This tour package includes a rare book viewing, a library tour, and an exhibition tour. Established in 1951, the Lenhardt Library holds approximately 110,000 volumes in its collections, including books, periodicals, rare books, special collections, videos, DVDs, slides, nursery catalogs, and the archives of the Chicago Horticultural Society (including approximately 3,000 titles from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries). This tour includes a viewing of selected rare books as well as a tour of the library’s most current exhibition. After your tour, make sure to stroll through the rest of the Regenstein Center and the surrounding Gardens before your departure. 

Maximum 30 persons per tour.
This tour takes approximately 50 minutes. Available year-round.

Garden Highlights Walking Tours (available Monday – Friday)

On this tour, you will be taken to a Garden in full bloom. Areas for touring are determined on the day of your visit and are based on blooms and the group's capacity to walk distances. Greenhouse tours are scheduled for winter months. This tour takes approximately 35 minutes. (10 – 15 people per guide)

Demonstrations/Special Programs

(Available based on availability. Fees include $200 demo charge. Supplies and room quoted upon request.)

Programs include Herbal Spa demonstration, Grilling with Herbs, Cooking with Herbs, Chef Demonstrations, Container Gardening, Bouquet and Wreath Arranging.
