Reporting to the VP Marketing and Communications, the Manager Internal Communications will bring a strategic discipline to leading and elevating internal communications. The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation and execution of the internal communications strategy. This person will excel with partners by collaborating with key internal stakeholders. With a proven understanding of all parts of communications, the successful candidate will work seamlessly across the organization from the executive leadership team, and key partners, to ensure alignment and understanding of Garden initiatives and employee resources. The successful candidate will enable the Garden to lever the communications function as an integral part of the Garden’s strategy. During this time of transition back to in-person office settings, remote work opportunities are being offered for two days of the regular work week for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities: 

In this role you will be responsible for the following: 

  • Establish an internal communication strategy in conjunction with senior stakeholders
  • Ensure organizational initiatives, news and employee resources are successfully communicated to employees
  • Develop, optimize and manage internal communications channels
  • In conjunction with senior staff, manage internal communications editorial calendar; curate, edit and write content for online and offline channels
  • Draft presentations or scripts for senior staff for presentation to employees in written or spoken form
  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent across all channels and for different departments of the organization
  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communication content and communication channel delivery accordingly
  • Support leadership and company All Staff meetings: help craft the messaging and program through agenda, speaker selection and logistics
  • Work with internal translator to ensure all staff communication is delivered in both English and Spanish

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • An undergraduate degree, preferably in marketing or communications.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience managing a variety of internal communications channels, including intranet, email, mobile, and internal social media channels. 
  • Strong communications experience including writing and editing content that demonstrates a deep understanding of messaging, positioning and stakeholder needs.
  • Technologically savvy, comfortable learning new programs to enhance internal

Physical Demands: 
Office setting. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, listening, speaking, and keyboarding. Use of office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers, scanners. Some requirements for lifting, pushing, or pulling items less than 30 pounds.
