Wade Wheatley is an assistant horticulturist for the Greenhouses. He maintains the tropical, semitropical, and arid plant collections, updates the plant records, and ensures proper labeling. He assists with the set-up, maintenance, and teardown of Wonderland Express and the Orchid Show. Additionally, Wheatley cares for the Bonsai Collection in the Runnells and Searle Courtyards from April through October. He is also an instructor at the Joseph Regenstein, Jr. School of the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Before starting at the Garden in spring 2015, Wheatley received his diploma in professional horticulture from the School of Professional Horticulture at the New York Botanical Garden.  Previously, he earned his bachelor of arts degree from Vanderbilt University and a master of arts degree in English literature from New York University.
