Tom Weaver is the horticulturist for the Dwarf Conifer Garden and Waterfall Garden. The Dwarf Conifer Garden features a collection that showcases the diversity of forms and colors found among conifers. The Waterfall Garden includes waterfalls and a stream that cascades down a steep hillside into a series of small, landscaped pools.
Weaver also teaches the Garden Techniques classes for the Joseph Regenstein, Jr. School of the Chicago Botanic Garden and appears regularly on the WGN-TV Morning News's "Botanic Backyard" segment.
Weaver has had a lifelong interest in gardening and horticulture, which led him to pursue and earn a bachelor of science degree in horticulture from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Before joining the Garden in 2012, he worked at Linder's Greenhouses and Garden Center, Botanic One Landscaping, the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, and the Minnesota governor's residence. He also completed an internship at Longwood Gardens. Weaver enjoys collecting plants that are hardy but tropical looking for his garden at home.
