April President's Circle Letter

Dear President’s Circle Member,

Each year, roughly 10 million people visit the Chicago Botanic Garden and other living museums in the Chicago area, including the Brookfield Zoo, Lincoln Park Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, and the Morton Arboretum. Nationwide, more than 200 million Americans visit public gardens, zoos, aquariums, and arboreta annually. Within our organizations, we conduct research benefiting many thousands of rare and endangered species, and work to protect them. Our educators engage students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, helping to inspire the next generation to follow in our steps.

Your support of the Garden as a President’s Circle member shows that you value our mission to cultivate the power of plants to sustain and enrich life. I encourage you as well to join with the Garden and other living museums in our area to promote the conservation of plants and animals, and the healthy habitats on which they depend. One way to participate is by observing World Wildlife Day, which just this year was added to the United Nations calendar on March 3.

I was happy to see many of you at the Antiques & Garden Fair last weekend. Each Fair seems more spectacular to me than the last, and this year’s was no exception. Many thanks again to everyone who had a hand in making the season’s most anticipated event such a success.

I wish you halcyon breezes, abundant blooms, and lots of sunshine this spring, here at the Chicago Botanic Garden and wherever you travel. I hope our paths cross soon. Please know that I would love to hear from you at any time—you are an essential part of the Garden family.

All the best,
Sophia Shaw
