Lamajamal is a Chicago ensemble that was formed in 2004. The group plays folk and classical music from many global cultures including an extensive repertoire from the Middle East, North Africa, Greece, and the Balkans. The group has performed at several local and international music festivals and venues including the Chicago World Music Festival, Festival Internationale de Louisiane, the Chicago Turkish Festival, and more. The ensemble has also provided educational workshops and residencies on global music for grades kindergarten through 12th grade, and colleges including Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., the University of Chicago, Truman College, and Ohio University.
