Brazil through Central America, Mexico, the West Indies, to southern Florida and southern Texas

Plant Association: 

Adults feed on rotting fruit, bird droppings, and nectar from a variety of flowers.

Interesting Fact: 

Malachites can feed all day long and can fly to flowers 38 feet high in the canopy
