Gouache and Watercolor: Online

6 Thursdays:
September 21 – October 26
1 – 3:30 p.m.

$279/$349

The Chicago Botanic Garden’s online botanical art class is a virtual experience you can take anywhere!

New! Gouache is a kind of opaque watercolor that has a flat, graphic quality that gives it a modern look. Compared to watercolor, it kicks the color intensity up a notch. Henri Matisse used gouache to create his brightly colored papercut art: first painting the paper, then cutting out shapes. In this class, you will use gouache and watercolors to create stylized landscapes and botanical imagery. In addition to painting, you will employ cut-out techniques. All levels are welcome. A supply list will be sent.

This class will be taught online via Zoom. All registrations must be submitted online two days before your class starts. Registered students will receive login instructions one day in advance.
